The following is a press release from Theddlethorpe FC after the recent completion of their Lincolnshire 3G football pitch project.

“Theddlethorpe Football Club in partnership with Theddlethorpe Village Hall have finally realised their ambitions as work draws to a close on their £120,000 third generation (3G) training pitch. The facility has been mainly funded by the Football Foundation (£58,700) WREN (£30,000) and Sport England (£20,000).

The surface is only the third to be built in Lincolnshire, the other two being at Sleaford and North Hykeham.

When complete the floodlit facility will be available to hire for all sections of the sporting community including the village primary school.

Theddlethorpe Chairman Brian Manson is “absolutely delighted” with the prospect of being able to train all his squads on site. “This facility will have a huge impact on local football and other sports. Our key partner club at Louth United FC will also use the facility as I am sure will other local clubs. I shall also run after school festivals, boys and ladies 5 a side competitions. Everyone will benefit”

TeamSport90 wishes all the best to Brian and Theddlethorpe FC, we’re sure this is going to benefit our the Lincolnshire grass roots football scene immensely.

One of our local clubs here in Lincolnshire has a very dedicated chairman. Brian Manson has received a nomination for the BBC Sports Unsung Hero 2008 award.

The Louth Leader had this to report;
Local footballing hero Brian Manson has been nominated for the BBC Sports Unsung Hero 2008 award. The club chairman of Theddlethorpe FC and junior football development chairman of Louth United has been nominated for his ‘unbelievable commitment’.

While Louth United had some brilliant words of support for Brian;
Brian has earned this nomination for his immense hard work and dedication over the last 4 years at Theddlethorpe FC and of course his continued hard work with Louth Utd FC in the development of junior football at Marshlands.

Even Lincoln City FC got in on the act!

Although Brian didn’t get through to the final stage of the Unsung Heroes award he can be very proud of his achievements and unwavering support for the clubs that he runs. Well done Brian!
